Weekend Watchdog

Every Friday in our Weekend Watchdog feature, we post suggested questions for scheduled Sunday guests. You can add your own questions in the comment thread. We'll also include contact information for the shows, so we can let them know what their viewers want asked.

And on Sunday at 4 PM ET, tune in to Air America Radio's "Seder on Sundays" program, where I'll offer the Weekend Watchdog Wrap-Up.

For Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y. (CBS' Face The Nation): You criticize the Senate immigration deal as an "amnesty proposal" because it would allow illegal immigrants to stay in America. But the vast majority of Americans support giving illegal immigrants the opportunity to stay here, after paying penalties.

Are Americans such a welcoming people that branding the bill an "amnesty proposal" doesn't concern most voters?

(Prediction: Here's what King will get asked -- how does he feel about an election race against Fran "The Nanny" Drescher?)

For US Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker (Fox News Sunday): The White House is comparing our long-term Iraq strategy to Korea, where we continue to have troops stationed after 50 years.

As the President just signed into law a ban on funds for permanent military bases in Iraq, would a "Korea" strategy violate the law?

For Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Penn. (ABC's This Week): You have long advocated a ban on funding permanent bases in Iraq, and you succeeded. But with the White House hinting at a 50-year stay in Iraq similar to Korea, what will Congress do to enforce the law?

Also, Newt Gingrich graces the Sunday shows for the fifth time in the last two months, this time on Fox News Sunday. Here's a couple of past Weekend Watchdog questions for Newt that remained unanswered.

And despite the Watchdog's hopes, based on the guest lists, it doesn't look like the Sunday shows will pay much attention to this week's White House "greenwash" on global warming, nor the latest developments on the health care front. Perhaps they need to hear that their audience would appreciate some substantive analysis of such pressing issues.
